reading reaction(the war within)

The War Within is a story about a marine that gets mobilized to Iraq after the trade center was hit on the 11Th of September. This was a sad day for the united states but even more for David Botti, the 19 year marine having one more night out in the city of New York. That day the word went through all the office really quickly and his fellow coworkers started to shake his hand and showing appreciation and respect for what he was doing for the country. His coworkers all signed a little flag and had him promise he would keep it in his bag throughout his deployment. He got a cab home and starting making calls to all his family and friends and they were all confused but also very proud of him. He went out to eat and then went home to go to sleep because he had a huge day tomorrow starting at 6a.m. I really liked this article because i have a lot of respect for people that are in Iraq and that fight for this country. I have a couple friends that went to the marines after high school that could go to Iraq at anytime if there called on. That to me is crazy and very brave and almost even scary because i would never want to to lose a friend at war. But i thought this article was good and was very interesting and just for a little more info this article was published in the New York Times.

Someone that is close to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of people that are really close to me but choosing a person i really admire wasn't hard for me cause its my dad. Kurt Edward Meyer is my dad and he is a very good person and treats everybody with respect at all times. My dad works at a rice ranch and grows rice for a living to support our family. He is a very hard worker and likes to get things done on time and will put all his time in on supporting our family. There will be times in the year where he works from 6am to 8pm and to me that is very tough and you half to be a very hard worker to put in time like that. I will go to work from 8 to 5 and complain about it where he works a lot harder and does not complain at the end of the day. He is one of the guys that shows you respect no matter what even if he doesn't know you. He is my role model, and if i turned out like him i would be a really great person and that is what i wanna be when I'm older and in life. He was also a very good basketball player in high school and has many placks to show you to prove it. Kurt will always do a favor for you, if you ask him and will never be like no I'm not going to help you. He is always willing to help and be there for me and i really appreciate that and it helps me be a better person by having a good example as a dad. I have an older sister and he does the same for her and my mom everyday and never lets down. So this is someone close to me and i really admire him and if i turn out to be half as nice as him i will be a great person.

What makes me Happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes me happy in life, theres a lot of things that can make me happy in my life and i believe the most important thing is that everybody i care about is safe and alive. If somebody really close to me died like my brother or sister i think it would be really hard to ever be happy and not think about it because when someone loses a family member there be hurt for life. I had a friend that lost his brother in an unusual accident where a huge tree ended up falling out of the ground landing on him and killing him. My friend to this day is not the same and is always sad and if it was me i don't know how i would make it. So if everybody i knew was safe that would be something that would make me really happy. I really enjoy watching football every Sunday so if i had a huge big screen TV i would be a lot happier and would have my friends over every Sunday to watch the big game. A lot of people like to say that money cant make you happy but i feel like with money you can do anything you want at any time. So if i was a millionaire and had everything i wanted cars, houses,boats i would get a lot better sleep and most likely be as happy as anybody in this world. If i was the richest and happiest guy everybody would want to be my friend and if i had more friends that would make me a lot happier. I'm not saying i don't have any friends but i don't have that many and it seems to me like people with a lot of friends are always busy having fun. So if i had all theses things i think it would help me bring happenis in my life and make me a more well rounded person.

Describe your dream job!!

If i could pick any job out there that would pay the best and be the most interesting to me i would have to be a undercover cop in a big city like LA or NYC.This job would be a lot more interesting than most regular jobs, but on the lower side of things it wouldnt be the highest paying job out there for me. I would want it to be in a big city rather than a smaller one because in the bigger cities there are a lot more crime and action to where u could be doing nothing in your crazy action packed job in a small city. This is a job where people could look up to you because your paying back to the community and helping people that need it. Where to if you had a job like say at a bank you are still helping people but not in the sense where its a life or death situation. Look at what you get to do on your every day life you get to go undercover and try and take down huge gangsters and do whats necessary to get them to trust you and then take them down. You get to be a cop but throughout your everyday job you get to carry a gun and act like a bad guy even know you are there to help people. In this job you might do some things that are against the law but its all for taking down a bigger picture, like a huge crime boss or drug lord. The biggest con i can see with this job is that it can affect your family in a big way at home because when your an undercover cop you don't go home for days and even sometimes months.So this might effect your family because you wont be at home every night at 5 when you get off you will be undercover. So this could effect your life a little bit if your family really looks for support from you to be there to get things done, but this would be a chance i would half to take.SO if i could pick any job out there this would be my first choice on the list and interest me the most and push me to look forward to work everyday.

journal #1-what are your goals or epectations for this semester?

My goals and expectations for this semester are to pass all my classes and make it threw the whole semester without getting dropped or failing a class.Threw out this semester I'm really trying to see if school is right for me, or if i would rather work full time and start making money now. I attended a semester at a Junior College down south but didn't finish the semester and started working 5 days a week at a ranch driving tractor during spring and fall. I was encouraged to come back to school, so decided to give it one more try and see if i want to try and get a degree. So my biggest goal is to just finish out this semester without quiting half way threw and giving up because as long as i try my hardest and gave it another chance at least i didn't quit.If i pass all the classes with a C or better they will transfer and i will be on my way to getting credits for a degree and see if i choose to stay in school now or sometime later in life. Also a big expectation is to get a part time job for the time I'm in school so i can have afford to move out of my house into Chico next semester. Going to school full time and having a part time job is tough because then you end up with to little time on your hands for studying.But if i don't find a part time job i wont have any money in my pocket so that's a must. So the biggest goal in this semester is to pass all my classes and maintain a part time job and also have time to maintain my studies.
